Black Faces in Green Spaces
Talooka Studio partnered with Project Learning Tree (PLT) to design a report that amplifies underrepresented voices in natural resource conservation. The goal was to create an engaging, accessible layout that balanced informative content with visual storytelling. Using a nature-inspired aesthetic, we incorporated earthy greens, browns, and warm gold tones to reflect themes of growth, inclusion, and environmental stewardship. Clean typography ensured clarity, combining a modern sans-serif for headings with a traditional serif for body text to maintain professionalism and warmth.

To humanize the report, we integrated real-world photography of diverse individuals in forestry roles, complemented by hand-drawn leaf illustrations for added texture. Pull quotes, highlighted facts, and custom infographics helped distill key takeaways, making complex information more digestible. A consistent grid system provided structure and flexibility, allowing for full-page visuals based on different content length. The final design effectively captured PLT’s mission, fostering awareness and inspiring action toward greater diversity in conservation.

It was a pleasure working with Talooka Studio to design our first U.S. based career resource for diverse youth. Despite several iterations in our design requests, they were very professional and patient and kept working with us until we were satisfied. We loved how the product turned out!
